Evan R. Sorem – Of Counsel

Mr. Sorem has 26 years of experience as an employment, commercial and bankruptcy litigation attorney who has represented corporate, institutional, individual and public sector clients. Mr. Sorem was recently reviewed by his peers and awarded the AV® Preeminent designation by Martindale-Hubbell.
Prior to becoming Of Counsel to Fennell Law, Mr. Sorem served the State of California as a Deputy Attorney General for 16 years where he defended employment related claims brought against the State of California, its Departments, Agencies, Boards and employees, along with a variety of other litigation matters, in both State and Federal Courts. Mr. Sorem spent the first 10 years of his legal career as an Associate and Senior Counsel with Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich (now DLA Piper), then the largest law firm in San Diego, where he practiced in the Commercial and Bankruptcy Litigation Group.
Mr. Sorem graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of California, Berkeley, with his B.S. in Political Economy of Natural Resources in May 1993. Mr. Sorem also graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of California, San Francisco College of Law (formerly Hastings College of the Law) with his J.D. in May 1996. He was awarded "Mediator of the Year" in 2005-2006 by the United States Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of California and served as the President of the San Diego Bankruptcy Forum in 2004.
Born in Santa Barbara, raised in both San Diego and El Cajon, Mr. Sorem went to the San Francisco Bay Area for both college (Berkeley) and law school (San Francisco). He returned home to San Diego to practice law, and then build a family of six – Robin, his spouse, and then Andrew, Noah, Dylan and Scarlett Rose, their four children.
